Neil McGovern

Neil McGovern brings more than twenty-five years of experience in fine home building and custom craftsmanship. Educated in New England, he holds a B.S. in Environmental Design from the University of Massachusetts. He began his career building houses in Massachusetts, learning from New England craftsmen, before founding his own residential construction company there, where projects included the complete renovation of the White Horse Inn, a 4,250-square-foot historic mansion in the Berkshires.

As a lead carpenter in Providence, Rhode Island, Neil worked on historic renovations at Brown University and the Rhode Island School of Design. He later built high-end homes in Crested Butte, Colorado, and served as superintendent on high-end residential projects in Marin County and Mill Valley, California. In San Francisco he owned and ran Baytech Construction, specializing in high-end remodels.

Today Neil runs McGovern Custom Builders from Tahoe City. He has managed and worked on projects throughout the area, including Truckee, Incline Village, Northstar and Tahoe City.

Combining a carpenter's hands-on approach with a builder's view of the whole project, Neil runs ground-up builds from first drawings to final walkthrough with a trusted network of trades, and he still gives the most care to the details.
